The passing of Maksym Pashayev

By: sasha | December 12th, 2008

It is with immense sorrow that I must release that Maksym Pashayev has passed away due to injuries suffered in a car accident. The twenty-year old Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk and Ukraine U-21 captain lost control of his car on icy road conditions and after suffering head injuries, never regained consciousness.

In his passing Ukraine U-21 coach Pavlo Yakovenko echoed the voice of many:

“Max was a very honest and trustworthy person both in life and in sport. He was a true professional and able to unite the whole team. It was not by accident the lads chose him as their captain. For me it is a huge and irreplaceable loss from a personal and a footballing point of view.”

No words can express the sorrow of his passing and as always my deepest thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
