Zhovto-Syni!

By: sasha | November 6th, 2008

Following Champions League losses of Shakhtar Donetsk and Dynamo Kyiv it is up to Metalist Kharkiv to save me from this week of despair. In their first match of the group section of the UEFA Cup, they face Hertha Berlin who played Benfica to a 1-1 draw in their opening match. Home victories are crucial in this group as each team, Galatasaray, Benfica, Olympiacos and Hertha are generally tough to play at home. There a no major injury concerns for the match on either side as the German’s squad ‘keeper Jaroslav Drobny has apparently recovered from a muscle strain and ready to go. Myron Markevych has Zhovto-Syni moving well and second only to Dynamo Kyiv presently. This past weekend they defeated Chornomorets 2-0 with Marko Dević scoring twice and surely ready for a call-up to Oleksiy Mykhaylichenko’s side.

Still scoreless after almost an hour, but it seems Metalist is showing more promise than their German visitors. I, however, would be worried about Hertha’s ability to strike late. Marko Pantelic could score another stunner.
